SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY “ We have encountered problems with this group of women, because many of them have never had a job. Ordinary things such as taking their wedding rings off because we are a manufacturing business, is hard for many of them to relate to. Community leaders help us build bridges between the women and us as a business by acting as mentors for them. Respect for human rights applies not only to our own people, but also to those we collaborate with. This section reports on our work with: • Respect for human rights (nationally and locally) • Social aspects and employees AN EXCERPT FROM OUR POLICY AND GUIDELINES FOR LOCAL COLLABORATION • We will strengthen local communities through focused collaboration with Jobcentres on recruitment Local collaboration with Jobcentres Our laundries are spread all over Denmark, and we want to make an active contribution to the local community we are a part of. It’s good for the community that unemployment is low, but it also means that we have to think differently due to problems recruiting in thinly-populated outlying areas. DFD has therefore expanded its collaboration with local Jobcentres, identifying our mutual needs and opportunities through regular discussion. We can help municipalities with groups that find it hard to obtain a job by offering places in our laundries for interns, workers on wage subsidies, flexijobs, IGU courses etc. We often look at specific tasks that need doing at our laundries, rather than think in terms of a complete job, which means we can be highly flexible. Our managers have gained plenty of experience with such situations, and have built up good relationships with many Jobcentres. As our collaboration with the country’s municipalities progresses, we will seek to ensure that we have formal, written 22
